Why Is This Important?

Cervical cancer is highly preventable because screening tests and a vaccine to prevent human papillomavirus (HPV) infections are available. Numerator:Number of deaths among females due to cancer of the uterine cervix
Denominator:Estimated number of females in the population

How Are We Doing?

The death rate due to cervical cancer is declining and the revised Healthy New Jersey 2020 target for the total female population was achieved in 2020.

How Do We Compare With the U.S.?

The age-adjusted death rate due to cervical cancer is essentially the same in New Jersey and the U.S.
