Why Is This Important?

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a type of cancer that starts in early forms of certain white blood cells (called lymphocytes) in the bone marrow. It is is one the most common types of leukemia in adults.

Definition

Incidence rate of chronic lymphocytic leukemia for a defined population in a specified time interval. Rates are age-adjusted to the 2000 U.S. Standard Population. Rates are per 100,000 population.

Numerator:Number of new cases of chronic lymphocytic leukemia among a defined population in a specified time interval.
Denominator:Defined population in a specified time interval.

How Are We Doing?

During 2021, 413 New Jersey males and 279 females of all ages were diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

What Is Being Done?
