  Indicator reports are brief reports, similar to a fact sheet or data brief, that provide graphs, maps, data tables, and explanatory information for a specific public health issue, such as why it's important, what the current status is, and what is being done to improve it. More info

Communicable Disease Data Technical Notes

Sources of Data

Communicable Diseases

The reportable communicable disease data in the NJSHAD query module come from the New Jersey Communicable Disease Reporting and Surveillance System (CDRSS) database maintained by the New Jersey Department of Health.
Cases of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and sexually transmitted diseases (chancroid, chlamydia, granuloma inguinale, gonorrhea, lymphogranuloma venereum, syphilis) are not included in this module.
Technical Notes for each year's data are available on the CDS website.
All data shown are for New Jersey residents.

Population

Population estimates used to calculate rates are derived from the most recent vintage of the mid-year estimates provided by the U.S. Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program.
