Data Issue

The confidence bounds are asymmetric.

2014 and 2015 were transitional years in New Jersey birth data collection as the old Electronic Birth Certificate (EBC) system was retired, and the new Vital Information Platform (VIP) was rolled out in hospitals across the state over one year from July 2014 through June 2015. A higher percentage of unknowns is expected for those transitional years.

2021 was a transitional year in New Jersey birth data collection as the Vital Information Platform (VIP) was retired, and the new Vital Events Registration and Information (NJ-VERI) system rolled out in phases in hospitals across the state throughout 2021. A higher percentage of unknowns is expected for this transitional year.
